Bengal tiger population is largest than any other tigers in the world . Also, it takes vital role in Indian culture over many centuries.

                      Tiger was declared as endangered animal. they are now dying off Because poaching, illegal hunting for trading their body parts, loss of habitat and deforestation. After taking lots of conservation measure, India's tiger population has increased in the past decade. For instance, India takes a tiger conservation exercise and law enforcement for people who kill tiger. Last year, Indian prime minister Narendra Modi released a tiger estimation report as per which India recorded 2967 tigers, more than double the number from 1411 in 2006. India counts its tigers every four year through comprehensive survey. the latest tiger census carried out on 381400 SQ km in 20 tiger occupied states. the authorities set up camera traps at 26838 locations for capturing the picture of wild animals. nowadays population of tiger is increasing. Now India is home for almost 75% of global tiger.

                             Tiger is a national symbol of India since Indus valley. Moreover, tiger takes place crucial role in Indian culture and mythology. it is a vehicle of goddess Durga in Hindu mythology.

Hunting and prey

                          Royal Bengal tiger is nocturnal animal.it usually hunts in night and sleeps throughout the day. it prefers deer like sambar, chital and wild pigs. some tigers take cattle from human habitations. it mostly avoids large healthy mammals such as elephants and water buffalos.it resides in the low-land parts of the rainforest where there are grasslands and swamps. male Bengal tiger occupy 200 SQ miles of territory and it will not allow other tiger in their territory.it can drag their killed prey to 1500 feet for hiding it in bushes or long grass until it eats them. because of good swimmer tiger can hunt in water. tiger commutes with 3 or 4 individuals. Also it lives with their family and share their food. despite their size, it can climb trees effectively. however, it hides from other predators. it can consume 30 kg of meat at the time and survive without food up to three weeks.
